Winter Wolf by Rachel M. RaithbyMy rating: 5 of 5 stars***** FIVE AWESOME STARS*****I had the pleasure of Beta Reading this book, in fact Rachel M. Raithby sent me the first chapter ages ago after the birth of her new baby and I was like – I NEED MORE!! and I had to wait impatiently to find out what happened next, well it was worth the wait, and if you don’t believe me you can read the first 3 chapters free here :The thing that I most liked about this book is that the story is that the heroine Katalina (Kat) is not a simpering girl, she is thrown into circumstances beyond her control, but she soon finds her feet, sticks to her principles and copes admirably when she finds out where her true parentage lies.Kat isn’t going to cower down to her Birth Father’s demands, no one is going to tell her who she can love… and she has some nice hunky shifters to choose from too 😉
Bass – well Drool! there were so many bits I highlighted or that brought a lump to my throat, there is a bit of sadness with Kat’s parents dying and the funeral. But overall its a great love story.
Both Bass and Kat are determined to stay together, and end the feud that has decimated both packs, but it won’t be easy for them either.
The supporting cast are great too, and that is another thing I loved about it, we get to know a little about the members of the two waring packs and I am dying to read book 2,3… (I hope that these characters Bug Rachel constantly so we can continue to delve into their world) and where we will no doubt catch up with Kat and Bass.
Here are 2 of my favourite bits – Please note these were from the Beta Copy so they may be changed in the final copy:
“Don’t be,” he kissed her cheek. “Are you ready to go back?” He turned her around in his arms. “It looks like a few more people have arrived.”
Bass smiled against her neck and nipped at her skin, “I do love you, my snarky girl.”
They started walking back towards Jackson’s house and the hive of activity.
“I’m still not sure I fit in this world.”
“It doesn’t matter, we’ll make the world fit you.”
That night with the winds howling, promising a storm, Katalina laid down; staring into the dark eyes of her shadow wolf. His hands explored her slowly, with a gentleness he possessed only for her. His kisses urgent, wanting, but each one voiced a silent proclaim of his love. And with each kiss, each lingering touch; he mapped out the story of their hearts.
As to Ms Raithby’s writing, I have watched it develop from her first series Lexia which is her Adult Paranormal Series, and I can see the confidence and growth in this new series. I for one can’t wait for the next book to come from Ms Raithby, I love her imagination.
I am sure after you have read this book you will too.
I have Pre- Ordered this book and I can’t wait to re-read the final version – oh and the COVER is AWESOME! I love the Regina’s work too.Maeidesign Website
